From Daniel Hansen of DTM Films:

Here's an update on some things I have either accomplished or I am currently working towards.

Starting next semester at BYU–Idaho, I’m rolling out DTM Films Internship 2.0 — a hands-on program where I mentor students to become freelance videographers, entrepreneurs, and local influencers. They get training in video, editing, business, networking, marketing strategy, and more—while local businesses who partner with me gain a steady stream of high-quality, engaging social content that drives real results.

I’ve selected 5 top-tier students with skills, gear, and the right mindset. Businesses can trust they’re getting work from motivated students being trained to a professional level — but also should keep in mind that they are still students who are actively learning. As the program grows, I’ll lead 10–20 students per semester, producing not just a high volume of content, but consistent, cinematic-quality assets designed to grow local businesses. I’m actively looking for new business partners ready to explode their socials with regular, strategic content.

I also co-host “The Clever Creator” podcast with Tenneson Stanley. It’s built to serve creators but also helps business owners understand how content fuels growth, what creators should be charging, and the behind-the-scenes realities of making a living as a creative. Our current lineup includes professors (like Natalia Hepworth), local creators excelling in their fields, and soon, businesses relevant to content creation. We’ll continue expanding into new industries as the show grows.

We’re also developing a wedding workshop to raise the standard for videographers and vendors. I book weddings at $3K–$5K (with a $5K Boise wedding next week), while Tenneson averages $5K–$8K, with his highest around $10K. Both of us also work regularly in the Jackson, WY wedding space with planners and venue contacts there. While we aren’t “world-class” yet, we’re connected: Tenneson has trained directly with Nate Tehan and Jake Weisler of Runaway Vows. I stay in contact with them as well and also get tips and advice from Alex Ma. We’ve invested thousands in courses, workshops, and in-person training with top creators, and we’re bringing that knowledge back to raise the standard — not just in weddings but across industries for East Idaho businesses.

On the drone side, I’m expanding my course and training. A few BYU–Idaho students have already come to me for in-person coaching on flight and camera settings. Recently, a construction company hired me for a $1,500 drone package: they received 40–60 professionally edited photos and, after 2–3 hours of flight time, about 30–60 minutes of short clips for use in their marketing efforts. This gave them a rich library of reusable content to fuel their socials.

Earlier this year, I also partnered with Ballet Etude, producing four short videos that, combined with their Facebook ads, generated 12K–13K total views on Instagram and Facebook in less than a month. That campaign sold out both nights of their show and doubled their revenue from the previous year. They’ve since come back to book me for their upcoming gala and Christmas performance — proof that unique, creative video content drives lasting results.

My goal is to be the Devin Supertramp / Parker Walbeck / MrBeast hybrid of East Idaho — not just making flashy videos, but creating content that builds leads and sales while also educating, inspiring, and leveling up the next generation of creators.

Thanks,

Daniel Hansen
